Major in History and Get a “Free” Minor in Jewish Studies!

Below is a template for completing the requirements for the History major while simultaneously earning a minor in Jewish Studies. If you follow these guidelines, you’ll earn 37 credits and in the process complete both degrees!

1. Introductory surveys in European and US history (4 courses, 12 credits).
● Take ALL of the following: HIST 101, HIST 102 (or 002), HIST 103, HIST 104

2. Introductory surveys in non-western history (2 courses, 6 credits). 
● Take HIST 147
● And take ONE of the following: HIST 105, HIST 106, HIST 111, HIST 112, HIST 121, HIST 125, HIST 126, HIST 140, HIST 142, HIST 144, HIST 145, HIST 146, HIST 149

3. Upper-division course in non-western history (1 course, 3 credits). 
● Take ONE of the following: HIST 255, HIST 256, HIST 257, HIST 295, HIST 311, HIST 339

4. Concentration (3 courses, 9 credits)
● Choose the Jewish History concentration
● Take TWO of the following: HIST 114, HIST 115, HIST 116
● And take ONE that you haven’t already taken of the following: HIST 114, HIST 115, HIST 116, HIST 237, HIST 248, HIST 249, HIST 251, HIST 252, HIST 253, HIST 254, HIST 255, HIST 256, HIST 257, HIST 295, HIST 311, HIST 312, HIST 336, HIST 338, HIST 339

5. Colloquium (1 course, 4 credits).
● Take any section of HIST 392W. (A 392W seminar on a Jewish Studies topic with Professors Bemporad, Bregoli, Franklin or Segal can replace another course on this template. For details consult with the program director.)

6. Elective or HIST 190 (1 course, 2-3 credits).
● Take ONE that you haven’t already taken of the following: HIST 114, HIST 115, HIST 116, HIST 147, HIST 237, HIST 248, HIST 249, HIST 251, HIST 252, HIST 253, HIST 254, HIST 255, HIST 256, HIST 257, HIST 295, HIST 311, HIST 312, HIST 336, HIST 338, HIST 339
